A Sacred Whore…

…provides connection–sexual, tactile, emotional, whatever– and a safe, loving space, thereby letting people heal or have an otherwise profound or transcendent experience.

…opens to you, loves you in a way that asks for nothing and offers nothing beyond what exists right now. This love is born not of the image they’ve created of you in their head, or because of the nice things you’ve done for them, but because you– naked, fallible, fragile you– are fucking amazing exactly as you are right now.

Somewhere in the dim and dusky past, prostitutes served in pagan temples, and through their lips pilgrims drank from the cup of divinity. Through their legs like gleaming pillars kings were consecrated, became more than men. Sacred whores were vessels for goddesses, and the men they touched became gods.

We have professions and institutions and entire infrastructures set up to take care of people’s physical and emotional health. ..As a society, we’ve agreed that these things are important. However, we don’t have an acceptable analog for healing people sexually.
